Google for Education: Community Guidelines

When you join one of our Google for Education programs, you are joining a community and where applicable possess one of Google certifications (Certified Trainer, Certified Innovator, Certified Coach). And like any growing community, a few ground rules about expected behavior are good for everyone. These guidelines cover both online (e.g. mailing lists, social channels) and offline (e.g. in-person meetups) behavior. It's important that everyone who’s part of our Google for Education programs sees and adheres to these community guidelines.

Violations of these community guidelines can result in members being removed from the community. Use your best judgement, and if you’d like more clarity or have questions feel free to reach out.

Our Pledge

In the interest of fostering an open and welcoming environment, we as contributors and maintainers pledge to making participation in our project and our community a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of age, body size, disability, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, level of experience, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, religion, or sexual identity and orientation.

Our Guidelines

We expect all community participants to follow these basic principles:

  • Be nice. We're all part of the same community, so be friendly, welcoming, and generally a nice person. Be someone that other people want to be around.

  • Be respectful and constructive. At times communities may be composed of very different types of educators and we're not going to agree all the time. Remember to be respectful and constructive when communicating with fellow community participants.

  • Be inclusive and collaborative. Work together! We can learn a lot from each other. Share knowledge, and help each other out. Use welcoming and inclusive language and be respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences.

  • Participate and share. This is your community, so work together to make it useful. Join in on discussions, share knowledge, show up for meetings, offer feedback, and help each other out! We can learn a lot from each other.

Examples of unacceptable behavior by participants may include:

  • The use of sexualized language or imagery and unwelcome sexual attention or advances

  • Trolling, insulting/derogatory comments, and personal or political attacks

  • Public or private harassment

  • Publishing others’ private information, such as a physical or electronic address, without explicit permission

  • Other conduct which could reasonably be considered inappropriate in a professional setting

  • Discrimination or harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, veteran status, national origin, ancestry, pregnancy status, sex, gender identity or expression, age, marital status, mental or physical disability, medical condition, or sexual orientation.

We are committed to supportive communities, where all educators have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential. Community members should do their utmost to create a positive community culture that is free of harassment, intimidation, bias, and unlawful discrimination.
