Working outside on a hands-on project with real implications turns up the interest level among students in a way that learning abstractly in a classroom can’t. Being in the field to gather information means exposure to a new way of learning.
St. Albans City School is continually looking for ways to engage and inspire students beyond the classroom setting. The school, which serves students who don’t all have computers at home, wanted technology that was powerful, flexible, affordable and durable. They also needed a way to give students access to a wide array of educational tools and resources throughout the assignment.
Android tablets, Google Apps, and Google Play for Education helped students achieve trailblazing success with their community project. Teachers were happy to see their students make a positive impact in their community and directly collaborate with local experts on a unique school project.
