Follow these steps to become a Certified Trainer
Complete the Trainer Course
The Trainer Course grows you as a trainer with learning and building upon your abilities to create and deliver training plans.
Complete the Trainer Skills Assessment
Take the Trainer Skills Assessment to assess your readiness for training others
Obtain the Educator Level 1 & 2 Certificates
While not mandatory, completing the Fundamentals and Advanced Training courses helps to build proficiency and prepares you to take the exams.
Create video and submit your trainer application
Film a 3 minute video to showcase your personality and instructional style and submit your application
Maintain your Certified Trainer status
- Conduct and report at least 12 training events per year
- Share ideas and resources with our community of trainers
- Resubmission of interest, including an annual product update assessment
To become a Certified Trainer, you'll need to complete the six steps below:
Certified Trainer Course. Completing our trainer course will provide instruction on 1) Creating and Delivering Inspiring and Effective Training Plans and 2) Helping Educators Use Transformative Google Technologies ~8 hours. This course will help you bolster the training, leadership, and interpersonal relationship skills that make you an effective trainer. Click here to access.
Trainer Skills Assessment. Pass the Trainer Skills Assessment (~1 hour). This exam tests your understanding of the Trainer Course and familiarity with Google for Education. Click here to access.
Google Certified Educator Level 1. Take the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam (2-3 hours) to assess your ability to successfully integrate Google tools into their teaching practice to enhance teaching and learning. This exam will help you build your confidence as you work with educators and Google tools.
Google Certified Educator Level 2. Take the Google Certified Educator Level 2 exam (~3 hours) to learn cutting-edge strategies for integrating a wider range of Google for Education tools and technologies in the classroom. Film a Trainer Video. Distinguish yourself by submitting a 3-minute video introducing who you are as a trainer (~2 hours prep time). In the first minute, wow us by explaining why you wish to become a Trainer and what makes you unique and Googley! The final 2 minutes of the video should teach the audience how one feature of Google’s productivity suite, Chromebooks, or Chrome can be innovatively applied in a classroom or school setting. Screencasts are preferred.
Apply! Submit your membership application with the above materials (~1 hour). You will also be asked to answer a series of short questions. Your responses will give us an understanding of your training experience, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and building learning materials.
The Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam is $10, the Google Certified Educator Level 2 exam is $25, and the Trainer Skills Assessment is $15.
Your certificate and badge will be emailed to the address you used to register to take your exam. If you did not receive a copy, please check your spam folder.
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. You should receive a notification on your application status within 4-6 weeks of your initial submission. Thanks for your patience!
To continue your membership as a Certified Trainer, you should conduct and report at least 12 training events per year and resubmit your interest with an annual product update assessment. We also highly encourage you to share ideas and resources with our community of trainers using the Trainer Google Group and Workbench.
